Omair Shafi Ahmed is a highly skilled and experienced data science, data engineering, and software engineering professional with nearly 7 years of relevant experience. Currently working as a Software Engineer at Microsoft, Omair is a versatile and adaptable professional who has worked across a range of industries and verticals, including cybersecurity, research, and complex network analysis. Omair's experience also includes working as a Research Consultant at the Center for Complex Network Research, where he implemented deep learning architectures from existing literature for modeling drug-target binding. He developed novel deep learning architectures to solve the drug-target binding problem and 'fingerprinted' (feature engineered) chemical substructures that best represent needed properties for binding. Omair identified deep learning shortcuts in existing literature that boosted performance in the test but were not generalizable to the real world. He also worked with biochemists, physicists, computer scientists, and mathematicians to bring their goals to fruition. Omair holds a Master of Science in Data Science from Northeastern University, which he completed in 2019, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Science from B.M.S. College of Engineering, which he completed in 2014.
